**Your new role**
The role sits within a team that seeks to implement financial sustainability through effective cost management strategies. This team is undertaking a cost management program of work to review and analyse its IT software cost base to drive visibility and efficiencies in its management of costs and contracts. The IT Procurement & Purchasing (IT P&P;) function manages contractual commitments in excess of $20m with a portfolio of over 300 software subscriptions, licensing and cloud based services that support the universities learning and education objectives. The size and span of these arrangements warrants a detailed review under the IT Cost Management program. You duties and responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Review its software landscape and contractual arrangements to establish opportunities to implement cost savings;
- Capture, review and assess the terms and conditions of each software arrangements to ensure all contractual and ordering documentation is available and current;
- Understand the licensing terms and conditions and assess them for opportunities to optimize and reduce costs;
- Assess alternate licensing constructs for improved commercial outcomes;
- Review similar software products for opportunities to consolidate
**What you'll need to succeed**
- Extensive and detailed knowledge and experience in the IT software category, with particularly reference to the software and cloud services used in the Higher Education sector.
- Capable of reviewing, interpreting and analysing the commercial and contractual terms of software contracts and licenses;
- Extensive knowledge of software licensing constructs and mechanisms for optimizing such arrangements;
- Ability to read and understand complex software contracts;
- Capable to lead software and cloud based commercial and contractual negotiations with suppliers to delivery improved commercial outcomes to suit the immediate and future requirements of the university;
- Strong capability to analyse the commercial and cost models applicable to each software arrangements;
- Ability to develop strategies to reduce the costs of each software arrangement through consolidation of licensing, varying the licensing constructs and through negotiation with suppliers;
- Be analytical and capable of developing cost models for each type of software arrangement;
- Capable of drafting, documenting and updating contractual terms and conditions to reflect any changes in the commercial and contractual arrangements;
