**Position overview**
The Research School of Biology is a leading centre of biological research in Australia. Researchers have a tradition of excellence in addressing the world's most pressing issues in plant science and food security, through world-leading efforts in plant molecular biology, plant synthetic biology, and crop genetic transformation.
The ANU Plant SynBio Facility is located within the Research School of Biology. Funded by Bioplatforms Australia (BPA), Plant SynBio Australia (PSBA) is a new national network comprised of Bioplatforms Australia, the Australian National University, University of Adelaide and La Trobe University.
This is a key role for the ANU Plant SynBio Facility. Reporting to the ANU Plant SynBio Facility Director, the Chief Operating Officer will lead and manage the effective establishment, growth, management, and operations of the ANU Plant SynBio Facility. This includes business development, administrative and operations leadership, and staff management, in line with the Plant SynBio Australia Network's strategic goals.
The COO will represent the ANU Plant SynBio Facility, maintaining close working relationships with key School, College, and University staff, other Plant SynBio Australia Network members, and external stakeholders from industry and government.
**The Person**
Business development and project management experience is essential, as is a demonstrated ability to build and maintain working relationships with clients and stakeholders that enable long-term collaborative partnerships.
As a client-focused facility, excellent communication and interpersonal skills are crucial.
