Building Technician Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
* Drafting detailed technical drawings and creating precise sketches.
* Collaborating closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and local authorities to ensure all project requirements are met and goals achieved.
* Providing technical assistance to construction managers, architects, and surveyors by supervising and inspecting construction sites, ensuring compliance with standards and regulations.
* Coordinating and managing sub-contractors on-site.
* Analyzing and interpreting complex engineering and architectural plans, documents, and specifications.
* Delivering projects efficiently, within agreed timeframes and budgets.
* Maintaining high-quality control measures throughout the project lifecycle.
* Inspecting work and materials for adherence to specifications, regulations, and industry standards.
* Liaising effectively with drafting teams, engineers, and clients to ensure seamless communication.
* Preparing and evaluating tenders for construction projects.
* Overseeing and monitoring project costs and budget allocation during ongoing projects.
* E nsuring Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) compliance and best practices in the workplace.
* Developing comprehensive reports outlining structural compliance and project progress.
* Reporting directly to management teams and stakeholders.
Skill Level and Experience Required:
* Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma, or Diploma level combined with 12 months of full-time work experience or at least three years of relevant full-time work experience may substitute formal qualification.
* Knowledge of the construction and fabrication industry.
* Ability to interpret and study engineering and architectural documentation.
* Experience working in the industry, strong time management skills, and effective communication skills.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and high motivation levels.
* Knowledge of Australian Standards and Building Codes.
* Ability to travel, if required.
