Bricks and Brunch
Situated on Hamilton Road, Bricks and Brunch exudes its unique charm, making it a haven for romance. We proudly serve high-quality coffee and offer a contemporary Australian menu with an Asian twist, utilising top-tier local produce. We are looking for a skilled and motivated Cook to join our team, someone who can consistently prepare high-quality dishes, uphold excellent kitchen standards, and contribute to our evolving menu.

Salary: $75,000 to 80,000 /year (plus superannuation)
Start date: as soon as possible
Key skills:
· Passion for hospitality and food.
· Excellent technical knowledge with experience in all cooking techniques and styles.
· Advanced communication and teamwork skills, excellent organisational skills and grooming standards.
· Comprehensive knowledge of kitchen hygiene practices and occupational health and safety standards.
Main responsibilities:
· Prepare, season, cook and garnish a variety of café menu items, maintaining consistency in flavour, presentation, and customer specifications.
· Inspect and evaluate the quality, freshness, and safety of all food items and ingredients prior to preparation.
· Monitor, regulate, and adjust cooking temperatures on ovens, grills, fryers, and other kitchen equipment to achieve optimal results.
· Prepare meals to meet customer requests and dietary requirements, including allergies, intolerances, and special dietary needs.
· Apply appropriate seasoning, taste adjustments, and cooking techniques throughout food preparation to meet café standards.
· Portion, plate, and present dishes beautifully, adding sauces, gravies, and garnishes in line with café presentation standards.
· Perform regular quality checks during food preparation and service to uphold high standards of hygiene and consistency.
· Monitor food storage and handling procedures to meet health and safety regulations
· Assist in menu planning and managing inventory, reducing food waste
· Communicate daily with front-of-house staff and internal team members to ensure smooth and coordinated café service.
· Train and support current kitchen staff on food preparation and safety standards where required.
Other requirements are:
1. Work Eligibility: Permitted to work permanently with no restriction on hours (Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident preferred)
2. Qualifications: Certificate IV in Kitchen Management and Diploma in Hospitality.
3. Previous experience: At least one year working as a Cook or Chef
4. Language: Conversant in English
