Job Title: Clinical Coder

Location: Mater Private Hospital Rockhampton with potential to be based in Brisbane, or other Mater hospitals statewide.
About the Role
Mater Healthcare Services is seeking a highly motivated Clinical Coder to join our Clinical Coding Services team on a permanent full-time basis. As a Clinical Coder, you will have the opportunity to participate in clinical coding across a wide variety of specialties for both public and private patients.
The Clinical Coding Service aims to enable the best possible outcomes for Mater patients and clinicians by employing health information management best practice to facilitate quality health information.
This role will involve:
* Accurately assigning specific morbidity and procedural classification to patient episodes to meet data reporting requirements
* Coding inpatient episodes in accordance with Australian Coding Standards
* Meeting standards of coding accuracy and awareness of DRG assignment and its impact on potential funding
* Identification of unclear or ambiguous documentation and subsequent initiation of coding queries
* Participating in coding audit, quality, and education to expand coding skills
* Applying the principles of confidentiality, privacy, and security within the medical environment
About You
The successful candidate will have a HIMAA Introductory/Intermediate Clinical Coding Course/Certificate IV in Clinical Classification (or equivalent). They will also possess:
* Up-to-date Clinical Coding knowledge using ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS
* Experience using 3M Encoder
* Strong organisational skills in planning, prioritising, and managing workloads
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to work autonomously and within a team environment
* Understanding of private sector funding models (desirable)
* Experience using Webpas, iPM, and scanned medical records (desirable)
