Home Impact is seeking a Draftsperson/Building Designer to assist our in-house design team with architectural drawings and documentation across a range of residential projects.
Working closely with our Design Manager and design team, you will support the development of residential designs from early concept through to detailed documentation.
This role is offered as an initial 3-month contract, with the potential for extension or a permanent position for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
* Design Development: Assist with preparing and developing building designs and plans, from conceptual sketches through to detailed technical drawings.
* Documentation: Produce accurate architectural drawings and documentation suitable for approvals and construction.
* Collaboration: Work closely with the Design Manager, engineers, consultants, and internal team members to ensure designs are practical and buildable.
* Compliance: Ensure drawings align with relevant planning controls, building codes, and regulatory requirements.
* Problem Solving: Assist in resolving design challenges while maintaining functionality, aesthetics, and construction feasibility.
* Quality Assurance: Review documentation to ensure drawings are accurate, complete, and ready for submission or construction.
Skills & Qualifications
* Education: Diploma of Building Design or Bachelor of Architecture.
* Experience: Ideally 3+ years' experience in building design, drafting, or a similar role.
* Software Skills: Strong proficiency in Revit (essential). Experience with Enscape and AutoCAD is advantageous.
* Technical Knowledge: Understanding of Development Applications (DA), Complying Development Certificates (CDC), and the National Construction Code (NCC).
* Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate with internal teams and consultants.
* Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in drawings and design documentation.
* Primarily office-based in Dulwich Hill, with occasional site visits to construction projects.
