About the business
Leonardo International Helicopter Division performs research, design, development, production, customer support and marketing of Leonard's extensive range of products; modern helicopters and tiltrotors for civil, parapublic and defence applications. The Division manages the entire helicopter development and production cycle. Production and assembly plants are concentrated in Italy, UK, Poland and the US. The AW139, AW169 and AW189 models are part of a family of new generation helicopters, all featuring the same design philosophy and the same certification and safety standards.
Leonardo Australia is the Australian subsidiary of Leonardo International, offering full support services including engineering and maintenance including logistics management and other related support functions. Helicopter activities include helicopter gearbox overhauls in our state-of-the art Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility. We also perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, aircraft modifications and deployed support to customer maintenance activities. Our typical customers work in emergency services, offshore operations, in both government and private sectors including defence. Leonardo Australia has two key divisions, Helicopters and Electronics.
About the role
Based within our new state-of-the-art MRO facility at Fisherman's Bend, the Technician is directly responsible for performing operational activities for the maintenance, repair and overhaul of transmissions according to specific quality and timely standards. The Technician is responsible for undertaking inspection work as required and ensuring technical documentation is appropriately followed and completed.

Key Responsibilities:
* Perform range of tasks including mechanical assembly, parts cleaning, surface preparation and repair.
* Obtaining additional privileges within the scope of the CASA / EASA Part 145 MOE and LHD QAP.
* Ability to perform maintenance tasks according to task instructions to the standard specified.
* Completion of maintenance records, including 'sign-off' tasks within authorisation scope.
* Undertake theoretical, practical and On-The-Job training as required.
* Knowledge of human factors, human performance, and limitations.
* Ability to identify and report non-conformance, maintenance errors, and data discrepancies to support continuous improvement.
Skills and Experience:
At least 10 years of relevant Technical experience in an Aerospace/Aviation environment with preference to a component overhaul and repair operation climate including inspection experience – Inspector role.
OR
At least 5 years of relevant Technical experience in an Aerospace/Aviation environment with preference to a component overhaul and repair operation climate – Technician role.
Plus:
* Experience in recording technical documentation.
* Excellent understanding of mechanical systems, including understanding and interpreting complex technical drawings; transmissions and engines a distinct advantage.
* Knowledge of maintenance techniques.
* Knowledge in inspection techniques.
* Comprehensive knowledge of Human Factor aspects.
* Strong ability to work within a team environment.
* Fluent in English, with excellent communication skills.
* Flexible to travel, train & communicate with our global counterparts in Europe .
Required Qualifications and Clearances:
* Full Australian working rights.
* Clear National Police History Check, or ability to obtain.
* Bachelor's degree or Trade Certificate - Engineering Aeronautics, Technical discipline or equivalent.
* Undertake Position Fitness for Work Check (Pre-employment Medical).
* Adhere to Drug and Alcohol Management Plan (DAMP) policy.
