Location: BAELC - Geraldton
Employment Status: Full Time (12 months) – FTE 1.0 – 45 hours per week
Salary Range: $108,160 per annum (not including position costs)

ABOUT THE POSITION
Bundiyarra Aboriginal Community (Aboriginal Corporation) is seeking a passionate and innovative Centre Director to join their team at the newly funded Bundiyarra Aboriginal Early Learning Centre (BAELC) in Geraldton. The Centre Director will promote local involvement in the Centre by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations and community members to ensure decisions and planning for the cultural and educational integration and access to early childhood education services for children enrolled at the BAELC are consultative and effective. The Centre Director will work closely with the BAELC & Bundiyarra Staff and Management to ensure the community and families of the children enrolled in the service are engaged with, contributing to, and supported by the BAELC Service Delivery Model.

The vision of the BAELC is to provide all children with a great start by improving their wellbeing prior to school, with a focus on culture, healing, education, engagement, community collaboration, evaluation, and leadership. The BAELC addresses the specific needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and their families to support educational excellence through a community-led Cultural Framework, Educational Framework, and Service Delivery Model, using a collective impact approach to set community-owned goals and strategies for positive transition to school and cultural healing.

Bundiyarra Aboriginal Community (Aboriginal Corporation) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation, Aboriginal led, staffed, and embedded in the local Aboriginal Communities of the Mid-West, Murchison, and Gascoyne. Since 1992, Bundiyarra has established a modern, professionally run community services and administration centre. The organisation employs over 27 staff across various roles to achieve its outcomes.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL
* Bachelor’s in early childhood education or relevant diploma with regulatory exemption
* Experience as a Centre Director or in a leadership role within childcare
* Knowledge of the National Quality Framework and Early Years Learning Framework
* Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
* Current First Aid, CPR, Allergies and Anaphylaxis training, Police Clearance, WWCC
* Experience in fostering Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander leadership and governance
* High-level understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander issues, culture, and practices
* Community development experience targeting whole community change
* Excellent communication skills with families and community groups
* Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and online early learning software
* Commitment to ongoing professional development
* Ability to work effectively in a team environment
* Class C Driver’s License
DESIRABLE
* Tertiary qualifications in community development, governance, social work, public health, or education
* Understanding of children’s services funding and gaps
* Existing stakeholder relationships in the region
* Knowledge of the Collective Impact Approach
SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
* Provide leadership to educators and support staff
* Create a safe, inclusive learning environment
* Design and implement holistic curriculum programs
* Build strong relationships with families
* Manage budgets, enrolments, and staff development
* Ensure compliance with regulations and safety standards
* Engage with community and disseminate relevant messages
* Support applications for Child Care Subsidy and related compliance
* Maintain up-to-date data collection and reporting systems
* Collaborate with community groups and governance bodies
* Plan activities and identify resource needs
* Handle community enquiries and attend relevant meetings

* Participate in regular performance reviews and appraisals
* Submit monthly reports and evaluations
* Reflect and evaluate activities upon completion
