About the Role
This position involves providing person-centred support and a strengths-based approach to counselling for young people and their families.
The role requires assisting individuals through information, advice, support, advocacy, and counselling, alongside medium to long-term casework, mediation, and referrals to relevant agencies or services.
The primary goal is to facilitate reconciliation between young people and their families, enabling them to stay together or work towards independent living when necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
* Offer person-centred support and a strengths-based approach in counselling.
* Provide information, advice, and support, as well as medium to long-term casework, mediation, and referrals.
* Develop and facilitate skills-based and therapeutic groups to enhance life skills for young people and parenting skills for families.
* Build relationships with government, community, and other stakeholders.
* Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and work independently when required.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
* Assessment, referrals, and coordination of care for young people.
* Experience with person-centred frameworks and a strengths-based approach in casework and counselling.
* Highly developed interpersonal skills and knowledge of mediation and conflict resolution.
* Development, implementation, and evaluation of skills-based and therapeutic groups.
* Maintenance of professional client information and data.
* Obtaining NSW Working with Children Check, NDIS Worker Screening Check, First Aid & CPR certificate, and undertaking pre-employment functional medical.
