About the Role GenusPlus Group is seeking a Project Cost Engineer to support the delivery of the NWTD project. Based in Tasmania, this role will be responsible for developing accurate cost estimates, monitoring project costs against budget, and providing timely forecasting and reporting to support informed decision-making and successful project delivery. Working closely with project delivery, commercial, and leadership teams, you will play a key role in cost planning, tracking, analysis, and reporting across project activities. You will help ensure strong financial visibility and commercial discipline across the project, while supporting accurate forecasting, budget control, and ongoing performance monitoring. This role will suit a commercially minded professional with experience in estimating and/or cost control within construction or infrastructure projects, ideally with exposure to electrical infrastructure environments. You will be confident interpreting drawings, specifications, and scopes of work, and able to translate complex cost information into clear, practical insights for project stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain project cost estimates, budgets, and forecasts Monitor project costs against budget and identify variances, trends, and cost risks Prepare regular cost reports and forecasting updates to support project and leadership decision-making Track actual costs, commitments, and forecast outcomes across project activities Support cost control processes, reporting accuracy, and budget discipline throughout delivery Interpret drawings, specifications, and scopes of work to support estimating and cost analysis Assist with commercial reviews and cost assessments as project requirements evolve Work closely with project delivery and commercial stakeholders to support project performance outcomes Contribute to continuous improvement in cost reporting, systems, and processes Uphold company policies, procedures, values, and safety expectations at all times Skills & Experience Required Proven experience in estimating and/or cost control within construction or infrastructure projects Demonstrated ability to prepare cost estimates, budgets, and forecasts Strong experience in cost tracking, reporting, and variance analysis Proficiency in Excel and cost management / reporting systems Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and scopes of work Experience working within project delivery environments, including EPC or similar Strong analytical, commercial, and problem-solving capability Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills Relevant qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or similar Electrical experience is essential Desirable Experience in electrical infrastructure, transmission line, or substation projects Familiarity with Primavera P6, Power BI, or similar project controls systems Exposure to schedule of rates, BOQ / BOM development, and GMP contract environments Understanding of project controls frameworks and cost / schedule integration Experience working on large-scale or remote projects Knowledge of Australian construction standards and commercial practices Experience supporting tendering, procurement, or contract administration Benefits Opportunity to work on a major transmission infrastructure project with a leading Australian contractor Key role supporting commercial performance and project delivery outcomes Collaborative team environment with a strong focus on safety, performance, and continuous improvement Career development within a growing business delivering complex projects nationally Competitive salary and benefits Location This role is based in Devonport, Tasmania.
