About the Woolworths Legal Team
Our Legal team supports the entire Group by providing thought leadership and professional, independent legal advice that addresses the company's risk profile and helps guide our teams to lead the market. We aspire to the highest professional standards and aim to deliver exceptional legal services with a strong commercial and strategic understanding.

Opportunity
We are seeking a new colleague with broad experience, and particular expertise in industrial relations and compliance matters. This role is a superb opportunity to use your specialist legal, business partnering and commercial acumen, to provide advice and support across a broad portfolio. This includes providing both strategic and day-to-day advice and also partnering on employment litigation. The role is Group wide and supports businesses including Woolworths Retail, BIG W, online/digital businesses like WooliesX and Cartology, plus our supply chain/logistics business (Primary Connect) and various corporate functions.
What you'll do
* Advising on Enterprise Agreement or Award interpretation, negotiations and related FWC applications (industrial disputes, EA approvals, industrial action).
* Managing a range of escalated litigated claims including unfair dismissal, general protections, bullying, discrimination/harassment and other Court proceedings, including working with external panel law firms and Counsel.
* Providing expert advice on escalated matters from a range of People teams, including grievances and investigations, compliance and remediation issues, reward and remuneration, restructures, and recruitment and restraints.
* Reviewing, drafting and advising on key People policies, templates, contracts, processes and remuneration arrangements.
* Work health and safety matters including governance and due diligence arrangements, incident support and investigations, and regulatory actions.
* Various other issues including whistleblowing matters, responsible sourcing and modern slavery issues, privacy, restructures and corporate/M&A support.
What you'll bring
* Strong technical capability, well honed interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to build trusted and effective partnering relationships with other lawyers, HR leaders and business stakeholders.
* Personal leadership and resilience, while working in a supportive and collaborative team.
* Hold a Bachelor of Laws or Juris Doctor and an Australian practising certificate, with 5+ years PQE.
* Experience working in the employment/workplace legal team at a significant law firm and/or large complex organisation.
* Strong expertise across employment and industrial areas, including contracts and policies, investigations and whistleblowing, employment litigation, compliance, awards, EAs and bargaining and WHS.
* Demonstrated ability to keep abreast of regulatory change, and to quickly and effectively communicate reforms and support implementation and compliance.
* Ability to think holistically and strategically (not just solving the question at hand), exercise sound judgement, and utilise strong analytical and communication skills to make the complex simple.
* Leverage AI tools to enhance productivity, streamline workflows, and ensure high-quality output.
What you'll experience
* A commitment to flexibility through a hybrid working model which combines time spent at a support office or hub and time working from home, supporting both in-person connection and balancing the flexibility that remote working provides for our teams.
* High-impact role supporting our teams who enrich our communities.
* A global business with endless career possibilities around every corner and across every discipline – with valuable exposure to a vast and exciting business network.
* A range of programs to help you prioritise and manage your wellbeing, including 24/7 access to the Sonder app.
* A progressive and competitive leave policy that gives you more space for what matters to you.
* Team discounts across our range of Woolworths Group brands you know and love and a robust rewards program that celebrates and incentivises purpose-driven work.
