Engineering/Capital Works Project Manager

Your new role
As a Project Manager - Engineering / Capital Works, you'll take ownership of a diverse portfolio of active projects, supporting delivery across the full project lifecycle. This role blends hands‑on project management with the opportunity to influence and uplift how projects are delivered across the organisation.
You'll work closely with engineering, construction, and corporate stakeholders to deliver civil, building, and infrastructure projects, while also contributing to the development of enterprise‑wide PMO frameworks, tools, and reporting. This is a highly visible role, providing regular portfolio and project reporting to senior management, elected members, and the wider community.
Beyond delivery, you'll play a key role in embedding best‑practice project management, supporting change management initiatives, and promoting a collaborative and accountable project culture across the City.
What you'll need to succeed
Proven experience managing civil, building, or infrastructure projects in an engineering or capital works environment
Strong understanding of construction delivery, contractor management, and technical risk
Demonstrated experience delivering projects through the full project lifecycle
The ability to develop and maintain project documentation, governance frameworks, and reporting
Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the confidence to work across multiple departments
Experience contributing to or operating within a PMO or structured project framework
A proactive, collaborative mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
