The Opportunity

Wollongong City Council is seeking a curious, driven, and collaborative Data and Analytics Graduate to join our Information Management team. This is your opportunity to contribute to creating an Extraordinary Wollongong through data-informed insights that support strategic initiatives and community outcomes.

As a Data and Analytics Graduate, you'll work closely with stakeholders across Council to deliver meaningful insights through data analysis, visualisation, and reporting. You'll help build scalable dashboards, support data governance, and contribute to a culture of data literacy and informed decision-making.

This is a Term Contract position until September 2026, with the possibility of extension.
Salary from $88,389 up to $99,044 per annum, plus superannuation. (Salary package will be assessed based on skills, experience and qualifications)

What you will be doing

As a Data and Analytics Graduate, you'll be at the heart of transforming data into meaningful insights that help shape Wollongong's future. Your day-to-day will include:

* Partnering with stakeholders across Council to understand their goals and deliver tailored analytics solutions that drive smarter decisions.
* Creating dynamic dashboards and reports using tools like Power BI-making complex data easy to understand and act on.
* Working in a modern technical environment in Microsoft Azure to extract, transform, and load data meeting diverse business requirements.
* Handling diverse data sources, from APIs and IoT devices to traditional databases, developing modern data warehousing architectures.
* Ensuring data quality and accessibility, so that Council teams can rely on accurate, consistent information to support their work.
* Championing data governance and helping others build their data literacy-because informed teams make better decisions.
* Maintaining and evolving our analytics environment, keeping documentation up to date and systems running smoothly.
* Contributing to a safe and inclusive workplace by applying WHS principles and actively participating in risk assessments and safety initiatives.

This role is designed for someone who's eager to learn, grow, and contribute, even if you haven't had formal work experience yet. If that sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you.

About you

You're either nearly completing or have recently completed a degree in Information or Communication Technology, or Computer Science, or a related field. You're ready to take the first step in your career and bring:
