Project Lighting Specialist

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Project Lighting Specialist to join our growing team. This role is ideal for a commercially driven lighting professional who combines strong technical lighting knowledge with exceptional relationship-building and sales capability.

As a key member of the business, you will be responsible for driving project sales growth, negotiating and converting project quotes with various stakeholder groups, developing strategic partnerships, increasing product specification opportunities, and delivering exceptional client support across a range of commercial lighting projects.

You will work closely with internal project, design, and sales teams while managing your own pipeline of opportunities and maintaining strong relationships with consultants, wholesalers, contractors, architects, designers, and end users.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Business Development

* Achieve individual sales and gross profit targets
* Develop and execute strategic sales plans to grow market share
* Identify and secure new business opportunities
* Build and maintain a strong project pipeline
* Increase product specification opportunities across projects
* Conduct market research and competitor analysis
* Lead client negotiations and close commercial opportunities

Client & Relationship Management

* Build long-term relationships with key stakeholders and clients
* Deliver exceptional customer service and ongoing project support
* Attend industry networking events and client meetings
* Maintain regular communication with existing and prospective customers

Project & Technical Support

* Develop a detailed understanding of active projects
* Support internal teams with quotations, design interpretation, product proposals, and value engineering
* Attend site visits where required to provide application support
* Assist with project handovers to internal project teams

Reporting & Systems

* Maintain accurate records within CRM and ERP systems
* Monitor sales activity, forecasting, and pipeline reporting
* Analyse sales performance and identify improvement opportunities

Training & Development

* Attend supplier training sessions and industry development programs locally, interstate and overseas
* Continue developing technical lighting and sales expertise

Highly Desirable Skills & Experience

* Experience in architectural and technical lighting and project sales
* Strong understanding of Australian Standards and Building Codes
* Ability to read electrical specifications, luminaire schedules, and construction drawings
* Understanding of technical, specification documentation

* Minimum 2+ years' experience in a lighting design or a related industry role
* Strong commercial awareness and sales capability
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* High attention to detail and organisational skills
* Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
* Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively
* Strong customer-first mindset with a focus on repeat business
* Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and MS Office Suite
* Professional email and telephone communication skills

Requirements

* Current driver's licence and reliable vehicle
