Site Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer
Join a pioneering Australian company delivering world-first processing technology
Play a key role in commissioning and operational readiness of a greenfield facility
Build a long-term career with a global leader in sustainable ultra-high purity alumina production
The Business
Alpha HPA is a publicly listed Australian company that has commercialised the world's first solvent extraction (SX) purification process for aluminium. This breakthrough process produces a growing range of ultra-high purity aluminium materials – oxides, hydroxides and nitrates – used across advanced industries such as LED lighting, synthetic sapphire, semiconductors and lithium-ion batteries.
Alpha HPA's materials deliver market-leading purity with a dramatically lower carbon profile. The Stage One HPA First Project in Gladstone is now in production – the first commercial application of Alpha HPA's proprietary SX process, producing >*****% pure alumina and aluminium materials.
Construction of the large-scale commercial facility (Stage Two HPA First Project) is underway, with full-scale HPA production targeted for mid-****. Once operations, Alpha HPA will produce ~10,000 tonnes of HPA equivalent per year, right here in Gladstone.

Alpha HPA is seeking an experienced Site Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer to join its Gladstone team. This role offers a rare opportunity to contribute across both the construction and operations phases of a major greenfield project.
During construction, you'll report to the Maintenance and Engineering Manager, supporting commissioning and operational readiness for Stage Two of the HPA First Project. Once the plant becomes operational, you'll transition into the maintenance engineering team, focused on reliability and performance of critical plant assets.

Compiling asset management plans and supporting CMMS build for Stage 2 operations
Oversee changes to maintenance strategies and master data, ensuring compliance
Leading improvements in reliability, maintenance and shutdown processes
Managing external specialists and ensuring site compliance with standards.
About You
Degree qualification in Electrical Engineering (essential)
Minimum 5 years' experience in maintenance engineering within complex processing environments such as minerals processing, oil & gas or chemicals manufacturing (8+ years desirable)
Experience in HV and LV electrical systems, instrumentation and controls
Demonstrated experience in greenfield project construction, commissioning and maintenance system setup
Proven analytical and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
Experience in instrumentation and controls systems in complex processing plants
Good technical engineering skills and understanding with emphasis on pressure systems, rotary kilns/dryers, furnaces, pumps, machine guarding, maintenance cost analysis, and reliability improvement techniques
Solid understanding of maintenance cost analysis and reliability improvement tools and techniques (EG: FMECA, RCM, etc.)
Experience with computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS); familiarity with The Asset Guardian (TAG) highly regarded
You'll thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and enjoy seeing large-scale industrial projects through build to operation.
Your Reward
This is a permanent, full-time opportunity offering an attractive salary based on experience, plus benefits.
