This role is based at a Defence Barracks in Hobart, offering a dynamic and rewarding environment where your culinary skills will directly contribute to the wellbeing of Defence members and Public Servants. Your new role As a Chef, you will be responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting meals for routine services, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, morning teas, bar snacks, and functions. You’ll assist with menu planning, food preparation, and ensure compliance with food safety standards. The role also includes light administration duties such as HACCP documentation and toolbox meetings. You’ll support daily operations and may be required to guide and train kitchen staff. What you'll need to succeed To be successful, you must: Hold a Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery. Possess a current RSA or be willing to obtain one prior to commencement. Have a valid Police Check (less than 30 days old). Be eligible for Defence clearance (Australian Citizens only). Hold a valid driver’s licence and be available for early mornings, nights, and weekend shifts. Demonstrate strong food safety and allergen management knowledge. Be a team player with excellent stakeholder management and leadership skills.
