Mount Isa Mines are currently seeking an experienced Motor Mechanic – Leading Hand in the George Fisher Mine Mobile Maintenance Department. The role reports to the George Fisher Mine Mobile Maintenance Supervisor and is a residential position in Mount Isa.

Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Motor Mechanic with strong involvement in all aspects of maintenance, including routine maintenance, repairs and servicing. In this role you will carry out routine scheduled maintenance tasks, trouble shooting and complete breakdown repairs. You will work effectively both as part of a team and independently in a dynamic and challenging environment with a high focus on planned maintenance and safety.
The roster for this role is 7 on 7 off day and night continuous shift.
Responsibilities
Work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary trade team
Assist in complying with required Australian standards, mine regulations, environmental standards and other relevant documents
Act as a leader for the crew and assume supervisor role when the supervisor is absent
Promote safety initiatives to reduce injury statistics
Demonstrate a high standard of professional workmanship
Perform light fleet maintenance work and breakdown repairs
Conduct planned maintenance activities on assets including Toyota, Nissan, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Holden, Isuzu, light trucks, buses and small trailers
Contribute to continuous improvement opportunities
Deliver personnel and equipment to job sites and return surplus equipment to stores
Operate safely and assist with delivery of production targets within budget
Mentor apprentices
Complete project work as required
Required Skillset and Attributes
Trade qualification – Motor Mechanic
Current manual driver's license
S1, S2, S3 licenses
High risk work licence, Working at Heights, Confined Space, forklift licence, MR or HR licence
Holding a current Refrigeration Handling Licence is highly regarded
Experience in repairing light vehicles
Positive attitude and high safety standards
Mining or heavy industry experience highly regarded
Excellent trouble-shouting and problem-solving skills
Flexible approach and adaptable to change with a high attention to detail
Good time management skills and ability to work well under pressure
Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment
Good communication skills
Willingness and ability to learn new processes
Experience in SAP or similar system is an advantage
Experience in Excel is an advantage
