Microbiology Scientist, Part Time (Shift)
As a scientist in the Microbiology department at Princess Alexandra Hospital, you will assist in providing an effective and efficient pathology service to clients. This includes Molecular testing for Respiratory viruses including SARS-CoV-2, routine Bacteriology, and may include Serology and Mycology testing. The position requires scientists to rotate within all sections of the Microbiology department following appropriate training and operational requirements.
What you'll do
* Exercise judgment and discretion in undertaking various tasks, managing workloads, and prioritizing tasks while being responsible for the quality of work.
* Assist in providing effective pathology services, including molecular testing for respiratory viruses, bacteriology, serology, and mycology.
About you
* Knowledge and skill in Microbiology discipline and scientific judgment.
* Ability to prioritize specimens, perform tests accurately and independently, and solve scientific and technical problems logically.
* Apply established principles to Microbiology services, providing results and clinical advice in a client-focused manner.
* Build and maintain relationships with team members, clients, and stakeholders.
* Identify, develop, and implement quality and service improvement activities in line with NATA/ISO standards.
* Participate in operational requirements, including weekend shifts as overtime.
This is a shift position that may require after-hours work.
