As a Carer Assessor, your responsibilities will involve evaluating foster care applicants and renewing carer authorisations, in accordance with Life Without Barriers standards, policies and procedures.
While the role supports hybrid work arrangements regular travel across NSW is essential to fulfil the inherent duties of the position.
Key Responsibilities
* Complete carer assessments that are reflective of the needs of the local carer recruitment plan
* Schedule and attend home visits and other meetings with carer applicants, their families and referees for the purposes of completing carer assessments
* Ensure written reviews and assessments meet the agreed standards and clearly outline the development needs that the carer has
* Identify any training requirements, safety concerns or placement issues throughout the assessment process and provide feedback and suggested solutions or recommendations to the care team
* Throughout the assessment, support and encourage potential carers to apply a reflective, critical thinking analysis of how the caring role will impact on their life, family and other relationships
* Undertake reviews of established LWB Carers on the frequency within LWB Policy
* Contribute to the regular corporate review of assessment and review tools.
* Provide regular supervision, coaching, development and support to case management staff for quality outcomes.
Skills & Experience
* Recognised Social Work qualifications with eligibility for membership of the AASW and/or a Bachelor of Psychology or other relevant qualification
* Prior completion of the Share Stories Share Lives & Step-by-Step Training and Assessment Tools accreditation
* Demonstrated experience working within the child and family welfare sector, ideally in a role that conducts comprehensive assessments and reviews of carers
* Ability to identify an individual's strengths and areas for improvement within the context of providing foster and/or host care with a particular emphasis on permanency for children in care
* A strong ability to develop and maintain positive relationships and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
* Highly developed analytical, organisation and communication skills
* Current Australian drivers' licence.
Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and NSW Working with Children Check.
