Legal Officer Role
The Legal Officer plays a critical role in ensuring integrity and accountability in public administration by providing high-quality legal advice and guidance to staff.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide timely and accurate legal advice, guidance and support to staff involved in assessments, investigations, evaluations, reviews and prevention activities.
* Prepare reports, including investigation reports and general reports.
* Contribute to the development of policies and procedures.
* Manage and administer inquiry processes.
The successful applicant will instruct counsel in respect of examinations conducted pursuant to the ICAC Act. Ideally, you will need to have a degree in law or be eligible for admission as a legal practitioner in the Northern Territory, with the ability to provide legal advice in relation to criminal law, public law and administrative law.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
* Admission to the Supreme Court of the Northern Territory or eligibility for admission.
* Experience in advocacy.
* Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and upholding integrity.
