Role Summary

Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivated Cadet Mechanical Designer to join our Project Delivery Group in Brisbane.

Team & Growth

Our Mechanical & Piping Team is experiencing growth due to recently secured, high‑profile projects and future workforce planning requirements. We are looking for motivated individuals who have a desire to commence their career in mechanical drafting and design.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be near or have completed an Associate Degree/Diploma in Engineering and will be seeking a permanent employment opportunity – with an interest in gaining exposure to projects in the mining sector. They will be given the opportunity to learn from and collaborate with other team members, working towards the successful production and delivery of civil drawings to our clients.

Role Responsibilities

- Gain an understanding of mechanical drafting and design standards as they relate to major clients
- Develop a sound knowledge and understanding of design software – predominately Microstation & AutoCAD (no prior knowledge of Microstation necessary)
- Developing skills over time to be responsible for the production of mechanical design models
- Exposure to major clients, state‑of‑the‑art technologies and working alongside well‑regarded industry and technical experts

Qualifications & Attributes

You will be working towards or have an Associate Degree/Diploma in Engineering, with any previous work experience highly regarded. You will have a willingness to learn and take on responsibility for the quality of deliverables and be an active team player, display initiative and be a contributor. Good communications and presentations are a must, along with awareness and solid appreciation of safety practices.
