ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a friendly, service-focused, part time, Level 1 ICT Help Desk Officer to be the first point of contact for IT support across the school. This role focuses on end user computing – supporting Windows devices, Apple Macs and iPads – and helping staff and students get back to teaching, learning and working as quickly as possible.

This role is ideal for someone with strong customer service or support experience who is looking to build a career in IT.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Employees will also be required to follow any other job-related instructions and school policies, and to perform other job-related duties requested by their Line Manager and Principal to support the College's compliance with its legislative obligations.

The ICT Help desk Officer role includes, but is not limited to, the following:

· Provide Level 1 help desk support to students, teachers and support staff (walk-up, phone, email, ticketing system).

· Troubleshoot common issues with:

- Microsoft Windows laptops/desktops

- Apple Mac computers and iPads

- Classroom technologies (projectors, panels, Apple TV / screen casting, basic AV).

· Assist with password resets, Wi-Fi and printing issues, and basic account support.

· Install and support standard applications including Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, etc.), Apple applications

· Log and manage tickets accurately, escalating more complex issues to senior ICT staff.

· Help with device deployment, collections and basic maintenance for student and staff devices.

· Create simple "how to" guides and documentation for students and staff, ideally using SharePoint.

· This is a hands-on role, working closely with the ICT team to support classroom learning and school operations.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

· Genuine interest in IT and end user support, with relevant skills or knowledge

· Practical skills supporting:

- Microsoft Windows (10/11)

- MacOS and iPadOS

- Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, OneDrive; SharePoint experience highly regarded).

· Willingness to learn on the job, follow procedures and build your technical skills with support from the ICT team.

· Demonstrate strong technical aptitude and excellent customer service skills – calm, patient and approachable.

· The ability to explain technical concepts in plain language to a wide range of users, including young children.

· Strong communication skills and good attention to detail when logging and following up tickets.

· A genuine interest in working in a school environment with children and young people from Reception to Year 12.

Desirable:

· Experience in an education/school ICT environment.

· Experience with a ticketing system (e.g. ServiceNow, Zendesk, Freshservice, Jira Service Management).

· SharePoint skills for creating and maintaining user-friendly support pages.

· Relevant ICT qualification (Cert III/IV in IT or similar) or currently studying.

· Be reliable and responsible in building trust within the Cedar community while acting with excellence and integrity.

· The successful applicants will also demonstrate an active involvement in their local church and align themselves with the College's core beliefs.

· Current Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain)

· National Police check as required

· Current rights to work in Australia

· RRHAN-EC training (Responding to the Risk of Harm, Abuse and Neglect – Education and Care training)

· Commitment to the school's Child Safe and ICT Acceptable Use policies
