Latrobe Regional Health is looking for Surgical Liaison Nurse to join our growing team on a part time (0.9EFT) ongoing basis.
The Surgical Liaison Nurse is to support the effective management and prioritisation of patients on the Planned Surgery waitlist from referral through to surgery. Working closely with the Patient Services Unit Manager, Pre-Admission Clinic Staff, Consultants, GPs and other healthcare providers, this role enhances communication, streamlines the surgical journey and ensures patients are optimised for surgery. The position plays a pivotal role in improving patient flow, documentation accuracy and overall surgical readiness.

The role of the Surgical Liaison Nurse is to:
* Undertake pre-operative prioritisation and triage of patient referrals, ensuring documentation is complete, accurate and aligned with clinical requirements.
* Assess medical history, investigations and current health status to support pre-operative optimisation and readiness for surgery.
* Provide patients with clear pre-operative education and act as a liaison between clinicians, GP practices and external providers to strengthen communication and care continuity.
* Collect, validate and collate documentation for patients on the Planned Surgery waitlist in accordance with the Planned Surgery Access Policy.
* Collaborate with patient services clerical staff and Pre-Admission Unit teams to support efficient workflow and accurate patient management.
About you
Ideal candidates for this role will have:
* Registered Nurse (Division 1) with current AHPRA registration.
* Experience in surgical nursing with sound understanding of the surgical patient journey.
* Strong communication, interpersonal and case-management skills with the ability to build positive relationships across clinical and administrative groups.
* Ability to assess, analyse and manage clinical information, prioritise patients based on criteria and contribute to meeting departmental KPIs.
* Demonstrated committed to professional development, quality improvement and patient-centred care.
