The Senior Systems Engineer (SSE) is accountable for solution customization, software development, configuration, and enhancement of RAN OSS Systems including but not limited: Ericsson LIENM, Nokia MantaRay NM & DCAP, Huawei VM2020&Trace Server, multiple vendor IBC DAS EMS and Ceragon Microwave EMS,. The systems Engineer will be knowledgeable across a wide range of technologies & concepts including software development in a range of languages: Java, Python and script languages like Perl, Unix shell, experience in docker and Kubernetes, rules engines, messaging bus, relational & graph databases, and a range of operating systems (Linux, Windows).
The Systems Engineer is a hands on software development role, but will also work alongside, Business Analysts, Solution Designers, Solution Architects, Project or Product Managers, Platform Owners and other relevant stakeholders to understand the business requirements prior to implementing the required solution, selecting the technology stack in alignment with the Solution Architects and to agreed roadmap and strategy.
What You'll Do
* Hands on Software design and Software development for custom build or customization of an existing product to documented requirements. Capable of translating high level designs into low level component designs.
* Knowledge and experience and range of technologies across operating systems, databases, integration, physical virtual and containerized infrastructure.
* Review and governance vendor solution design to align with Optus architecture if turnkey solution using vendor product.
* Review the MOP or implementation plan and shadow the implementation in both testing and production environment in major change which has possible outage impact to the platform and network operation.
* Customization vendor solution & product for integration with other Optus systems including but not limited to: CEM Kalix, Geolocation, SON for 000 emergency call failure and customer experience management, TeMIP, NAC PM for fault & performance management, NAC FM and NSM for fault ticket automation including auto-recovery.
* Engaging and work with Optus BIE, Exchange engineering, IPNE team for hardware deployment in exchange and IP connectivity.
* Engaging Optus IT and Cyber Security team for AD & UAM integration, SIEM and Safeguard onboarding and all security scan/testing.
* Stepping in to provide L3 \"Solution Support\" as required by OSS Operations teams for Major incidents and managing corrective fixes where the fix requires an inhouse software development or configuration change.
* Management of Source code, build & deployment tools and scripts to ensure proper source code and deployment management and manage all configurations within the System, ensuring all process documents are kept up to date in event of changes resulting in process changes, and running yearly review of all ITSM processes configured in the platform
* Management of Supplier personnel, and deliverables, where the software development is outsourced to a vendor, owning the source code once that is handed to Optus or the product and solution is supplied by vendor as turnkey delivery
* Input into sourcing activities (RFI, RFQ, RFT) for supplier services in relation to Product/Solution selection, Software Design, Development, Testing & deployment, working with legal and procurement and other internal SMEs.
* Management of all nonproduction environments such as: Dev, Test, UAT, SIT, and ensuring configuration of nonproduction environments align with production environments: Prod, DR, PPT.
* The SSE must also be capable of leading a small team of developers (vendor or contractors) to complete a custom build project if required by the department.
What You'll Bring
* Experience in software Development / Software Engineering using a range of technologies including Java / J2EE, Perl, Unix shell, Python.
* Integration of Opensource components or vendor product to accelerate systems integration, for example Apache Nifi, Log4j, kafka,, RestAPI, SNMP, TCP streaming etc.
* Test driven software development to minimise defects during testing and working with Quality Assurance teams to address & resolve defects promptly that are identified during projects.
* Staying across technology trends across industries and propose for endorsement and application of those trends within OSS to improve software development, code quality, and time to develop.
* Have working knowledge of workflow engines, rule based frameworks like Drools, RPA, test automation
* Have expert level knowledge on SSL certificate management, cybersecurity policies and processes. Policies are constantly evolving; personnel need to be able to adapt to the changing environment
* Management of Personnel including direct contractors, supplier personnel both local and offshore to deliver projects & enhancements for platforms.
* Understanding the diverse policies & procedures across SingTel and Optus for sourcing (Procurement, Legal) as well as Project delivery, CAB, Cyber & InfoSec, and Data Governance.
* Identify critical technical risk issues in a timely fashion and identify appropriate paths for resolution
* Management of Complex platforms, and integrations into OSS systems providing FCAPS for the Telco Network
* Management of critical timelines, ambiguity, and competing priorities, exhibiting all Optus' behaviours but specifically: Taking Ownership and following up, Speaking Up, and Removing Complexity.
