The Karumba township is located remotely in the Gulf of Carpentaria, the nearest main centres are Mount Isa situated inland 530kms South West and the coastal city Cairns750kms East. Karumba has a population is 610 but this increases to between from March to September during the dry season which sees a migration of grey nomads to the area. The Karumba Health clinic has one emergency bed, two treating rooms, Telehealth facilities for emergency and specialist consultations. Patients attend the clinic from the township, stations and vessels located in the lower gulf waters. Queensland Ambulance service is co-located at the clinic and has a single operator paramedic on shift 24/7.

Karumba is known as the 'Outback by the Sea' and offers a laidback lifestyle.

About the role

This position performs a range of duties to assist the day-to-day administration of the Karumba Health Centre..

Documents and communicates all relevant information across the continuum according to organisational procedure and local work area requirements.

Manage filing systems, files and appointments for clinical staff. Prepare new clinical files and close non active files when required.

Organise Patient Travel in consultation with North West Hospital and Health Service Travel Department.

Requirements

* C Class Motor Vehicle Licence.
* Pre-employment screening will be conducted for the successful applicant, including Criminal History checks.
* This is a VPD risk role and may require evidence of vaccination or immunity to: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, and Tuberculosis.
* A period of probation may apply.
