Overview
Are you a community-focused Ranger looking to expand your experience in the Ningaloo region? The Shire of Exmouth is seeking an experienced, passionate and committed Ranger to join our Community and Emergency Services Team on a fixed-term full-time contract for a period of 12-months.
Reporting to the Manager Community Emergency Services and Ranger Team Leader, the Ranger will provide high quality customer-service to the Shire's residents and visitors while enforcing statutory requirements to achieve compliance with various Acts, Local Laws and Council Policies, whilst also taking a proactive role in educating the community.
In the Ranger role, you will be accountable for providing the Shire of Exmouth community and visitors with a high-quality, community-focused Ranger Service, achieving positive community outcomes. You will provide education and enforcement of relevant State legislation and the Shire of Exmouth Local Laws, Policies and Procedures. This role includes a high level of customer service through direct interactions with the community and other groups, responding to complaints, and raising awareness of Council organisational priorities to enhance community well-being.
Responsibilities
Act as a community-focused Ranger to deliver high-quality customer service and educate the public on relevant laws and policies. Enforce statutory requirements to achieve compliance with Acts, Local Laws and Council Policies. Respond to requests and complaints from residents and visitors and contribute to the well-being of the community. Promote awareness of Council priorities through direct engagement with the public and partner groups.
Who are we looking for? / Qualifications
The successful applicant must have completion of Regulatory Officer and Compliance Skills 1 and 2 and ideally, will have a minimum of 2 years' experience in Ranger Services, compliance enforcement, or a related field (or a substantial progression of relevant studies). Qualifications in Emergency Management or similar will be highly regarded. We are looking for a collaborative and dedicated individual who is friendly and enthusiastic about participating in the development and delivery of community education and awareness. You will have excellent communication skills and be able to demonstrate competency in investigative skills around ranger-related legislation. You will be required to hold a current "C" class driver's licence.

* Qualifications in Emergency Management or similar (highly regarded)
* Excellent communication skills and investigative competency in ranger-related legislation
* Current C class driver's licence
Hours
Hours are rostered across a 7-day operation and you must have the ability to work over peak periods, including school holidays, in addition to some weekend and public holiday work.
What we offer
* Base salary of $72,558 per annum
* Weekend and public holiday penalty rates
* Housing allowance of $5,000 per annum or possibility of shared single housing for the right candidate
* Location allowance of $2,002 per annum
* Up to 22% Superannuation (includes co-contribution by you)
* Regular RDOs and 5-weeks annual leave per annum
* Eligibility for long service leave after 7 years of service (conditions apply), uniform allowance, employee assistance program and other well-being services
