Salary: Level 3, $37.78 - $39.37 per hour (EA (Gov) GA 2025)

Westfield Park PS are seeking to establish a pool of enthusiastic Education Assistants for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies that may arise during the 2026 school year.

Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies commencing during this period.

The School

Westfield Park Primary School emphasises safety, support and empowerment for students.

The school prioritises nurture, relationships and connectedness, with a WA Mentally Healthy Education Award (2022) for student wellbeing.

The Role

Suitable applicants should have strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with staff in delivering planned education programs and maintaining an inclusive learning environment.

The role includes monitoring student progress, providing feedback to teachers, and, when appropriate, mentoring and coaching other Education Assistants.

Experience working with students with autism spectrum disorder (K-6) and de-escalation strategies is desirable.

Experience with students with complex behaviours, mental health issues, vision/hearing impairment, diabetes and learning difficulties would be an advantage.

Desirable skills also include direct and explicit instruction, UFLI, Zones of Regulation and trauma-informed practices.

Responsibilities may involve working with small groups or individual students in the classroom or other settings to support academic and social development.

Eligibility

- Be an Australian or Recent Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.

- Obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start.

- Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start.

- A CV of up to two pages outlining employment history and professional learning relevant to this position.

- A two-page statement addressing selection criteria as outlined in the attached Job Description Form (JDF):

- Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills and ability to interact with students with special needs, liaise with parents, teachers and community members, and assist teachers in understanding students where necessary.

- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to contribute to a professional team, including evaluation in the development of education programs (including special education and therapy programs where implemented).

- Demonstrated ability to assist professionals in implementation and evaluation of education programs (including occupational and/or physiotherapy programs if required).

- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.

- Demonstrated organisational skills to assist in delivery of education programs and provide feedback to teachers or psychologists.

- Demonstrated ability to assist with the general health and wellbeing of students.
