Employer Carrs Plains is a family-run mixed farming enterprise in Victoria’s Southern Wimmera, producing broadacre crops, premium oaten hay, and managing a Merino flock with a growing sheep feedlot program. A practical, hands-on culture and strong machinery focus support high performance during peak seasons, backed by a well-equipped workshop, maintained machinery fleet and supportive team. The Role This Senior Farm Operator / 2IC role supports the day-to-day operations of a mixed broadacre enterprise, with primary responsibility for machinery operation, maintenance and logistics support. You’ll play a key role during seeding, hay and harvest while contributing to continuous improvement across the business. Key Responsibilities: Operate seeding, spraying, haymaking and harvest machinery Perform routine servicing, maintenance and mechanical repairs Support grain and hay cartage, including truck operation Maintain accurate paddock and operational records (Agworld) Assist with livestock operations as required Uphold safety standards and complete pre-start checks Contribute to workshop organisation and system improvements About You You’re a capable machinery operator with strong mechanical aptitude and a practical, “get it done” mindset. You enjoy working in a small team, take pride in well-maintained equipment, and are comfortable stepping up into a 2IC capacity when required. To be successful, you will have: Demonstrated experience operating large-scale machinery Strong mechanical skills – servicing, repairs and troubleshooting HC driver’s licence (MC advantageous) Ability to work extended hours during peak periods Positive attitude and strong communication skills Confidence with technology and basic computer systems Chemical Users Certificate and telehandler ticket (desirable) Candidates from mining or other heavy industry backgrounds with transferable machinery and mechanical skills are encouraged to apply.
