A well-known Government-Funded Corporation is seeking an experienced Payroll Advisor to join their Brisbane-based team for a short-term contract. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is confident working with external payroll providers, and has a strong understanding of enterprise agreements.
Your new role
* Uphold safety as a core value by complying with workplace health and safety policies and promoting a safe working environment.
* Oversee payroll operations within an outsourced model, managing three distinct pay calendars on a fortnightly basis.
* Validate new employee profiles during pre-boarding and establish payroll records, ensuring timely offboarding each cycle.
* Administer regular reporting and payroll cycle activities, including leave balances, exception reports, superannuation and allowance updates, and increment schedules. Ensure all agreement-related increases are tested and validated.
* Manage the shared services inbox, responding to payroll-related queries from staff.
* Facilitate training and coaching sessions on timesheet and payroll processes as needed.
* Conduct audits of banking processes and general ledger entries for authorised payments.
* Review pay runs to ensure timesheet compliance and accuracy of pay items in line with organisational terms and conditions.
* Escalate payroll concerns to appropriate stakeholders.
* Ensure payroll processes comply with legislative requirements, including PAYG, payroll tax, and superannuation obligations.
* Maintain accurate payroll data in collaboration with the external payroll provider.
* Act as the central point of contact for managing the external provider's delivery against contracted service levels.
* Perform payroll reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies.
* Maintain records in accordance with legislative requirements.
* Provide data for month-end, quarterly, and year-end reporting requirements.
* Resolve non-compliant timesheets in collaboration with managers and the external provider.
* Support internal and external audit activities.
What you'll need to succeed
* Extensive experience with Enterprise Agreements.
* 2-3 years of hands-on payroll processing experience.
* Strong understanding of EA interpretation and application.
* Excellent communication skills, particularly when working with external providers.
* A team player who learns quickly and adapts easily.
* Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
* Background in finance is advantageous but not essential.
