Job Title: Indigenous Engagement Officer


We are seeking a highly motivated and self-driven Indigenous Engagement Officer to join our team in the Loddon Campaspe area. The successful candidate will work closely with education and family service providers, key stakeholders, and the Indigenous community to improve early years participation, student engagement, wellbeing, and retention and achievement.

The role involves working systematically with departments and agencies, providing advice to assist the coordination of services to support re-engagement of at-risk Indigenous children and young people. Key responsibilities include building constructive, professional relationships with key stakeholders, facilitating improved access to universal and targeted educational services for Indigenous families and communities, negotiating with and influencing key stakeholders to improve access to culturally responsive educational services, establishing and maintaining partnerships with government departments, community agencies, and local communities, facilitating local Indigenous input into the delivery of culturally appropriate educational services, and providing expert Indigenous-specific advice to education services about culturally inclusive and appropriate strategies.

This is an identified position available for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants only. To be successful, you will need to work in a multidisciplinary team, establish and maintain good working relationships with school staff and early childhood staff, network effectively with local Indigenous community, young people, and families/carers. A current Working with Children Check is required for this position.

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders
* Knowledge of Indigenous cultural protocols and practices
* Understanding of the importance of culturally responsive education
* Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities

This is a part-time (0.7 FTE), fixed-term position available until 30/06/2028.
