Goulburn Valley Water (GVW) provides quality water and wastewater services to 54 towns in North Central Victoria. Our core purpose is to deliver safe, reliable, and affordable water services to residential, commercial and industrial customers.
Are you an experienced wastewater professional looking to take the next step in your career? We are seeking a Senior Operator to support the Manager and Team Leader in leading the Northern Field Operations team.
Your key focus will be to coordinate the day-to-day operations and preventative maintenance activities for the team and provide specialist skills and expertise in wastewater treatment operations and maintenance.
Taking on this leadership role will be both rewarding and challenging, and you will strive to positively influence the team in the areas of process, performance and safe work practices whilst ensuring our focus is on meeting customer service standards and service levels.
Coordinating the team in preventative maintenance jobs and project work, you will also provide significant field presence to guide employees and contractors in undertaking operational activities, ultimately ensuring team and organisational outcomes are achieved.
About your new role...
This opportunity presents as the beginning of your leadership journey. Your extensive experience in wastewater management and with guidance from the Manager and Team Leader, allows you to support individuals and the team to perform their roles to a high level as a cohesive unit.
You will balance a significant field presence with administrative requirements such as the effective planning and organisation of daily activities, assisting in the preparation of budgets, responding to customer enquiries and ensuring the review of plant operation, preventative maintenance and safety procedures are executed effectively.
Based on the outskirts of Shepparton you will also have the opportunity to work with and assist other operational teams across GVW locations through sharing knowledge, data, expertise, labour, plant and equipment.

About you...
To be considered for this role you must have demonstrated some of the following:
* Certificate 3 or above Water Industry Operations
* Minimum 3 year's experience in wastewater operations within the water industry or similar
* Certificate 4 in Water Industry Operations (Wastewater Treatment) - preferred
* Completion of or willingness to complete a recognised leadership course
* Strong problem-solving skills and ability to implement practical solutions whilst providing a strong customer focus
* Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to mentor and develop team members
* Proficiency with computer-based systems and technology (or ability to learn quickly)
* Ability to work under pressure and as part of a on call/duty roster
* Strong OHS focus, commitment, and application
* Committed to contributing positively to your team and the organisation
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Strong organisational, self-management and problem-solving skills
* Adaptable, hands on and enjoy working outdoors and in all elements
