The Karri Karrak Aboriginal Corporation (KKAC) is the regional corporation for the South West Boojarah region, representing the Wardandi, Bibulmun/Piblemen and Kaneang Noongar language or dialectical groups. We work across community development initiatives, land management planning, heritage preservation, environmental conservation, and business development programs.
We are seeking a hands-on Senior Accountant to take responsibility for the day-to-day finance function, including processing, reporting, compliance, and supporting management and the board. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects while improving financial systems and processes across a diverse organisation.
About the Role
You will manage the Corporation's day-to-day accounting requirements, support management with financial analysis, assist with project-driven initiatives and play a key role in ensuring compliance and accurate reporting.
Key Duties
* Processing and reconciliation of underlying financial records.
* Preparation of monthly reports (reconciled profit and loss statement, balance sheet and other required reports) for management and board members.
* Management of grant and funding program financial acquittals and related matters.
* Development and implementation of financial processes and procedures.
* Management of debtors and creditors.
* Payroll processing and maintenance.
* Preparation and lodgement of Business Activity Statements.
* Preparing or assisting with the preparation of annual financial reports, fringe benefits tax returns and other documents for reporting requirements.
* Assisting with other required financial acquittal documents and liaison with the Corporation's auditor.
* Assisting the Management team with any ad hoc finance matters required.
* Assisting with the preparation of budgets and annual forecasts.
Desirable Criteria
1. CPA or CA qualified with a minimum of 3 years' experience in a role including the Key Duties above.
2. Experience in not-for-profit and/or Aboriginal community-controlled organisation's and ORIC reporting frameworks.
3. Understanding or experience with government funding, grant management, and Indigenous governance frameworks.
4. The ability to work with an extensive group of stakeholders and Corporation employees.
5. Prior experience with Xero.
The role will be full time, based out of our office in Vasse with flexible working arrangements available. Note that training and support is available in the above area where required.
