**About the Role**

The General Manager, Risk & Compliance provides leadership, vision, direction and structure to the Risk and Compliance function to drive the effective and efficient execution of icare's strategic plan as it relates to: risk and compliance management, business partnering and advisory support; fraud prevention, conduct and integrity; and privacy management, aligned with icare's strategic priorities, business needs and government directions.

The role ensures icare is accountable to its Board, CEO, external regulators, and stakeholders for its management of risk and its responses to issues requiring remediation. This is a significant leadership role within icare, reporting to the Group Executive, Risk and Governance, and requires the ability to think and plan to a three-year horizon with an understanding of the risks of their decision making and the lasting impacts it may have on icare

**Duties**

It's an exciting time at icare where no two days are the same; as a **General Manager, Risk & Compliance** you will:

- Develop and lead a highly regarded Risk and Compliance function that has a clear vision, strategy and plan for building the overall risk and compliance capability of icare.
- Orchestrate the Risk and Governance strategy and drive delivery of the strategic roadmap with regard to risk and compliance activities, with a particular focus on business partnering and fostering an advisory 'centre of excellence'.
- Deliver and maintain the effective implementation of enterprise-wide Risk and Compliance Management frameworks, policies, and risk appetite statement processes and systems across icare and its lines of business.
- Develop and maintain icare's compliance management program and ensure that compliance obligations are identified, understood and appropriate controls are established, evaluated, maintained and monitored.
- Drive the awareness of risk and compliance culture across icare and provide expert advice to icare Executives on how to embed a sustainable approach to risk culture.
- Deliver effective and concise centralised Risk and Governance reporting, business planning and financial implications, to ensure insights drive appropriate management of risks by the business.

**Skills & Experience**
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant business discipline and skills acquired through extensive practical experience.
- 10+ years' experience in Risk Management and Compliance, at a CRO or GM level leading these functions within Financial Services or a large government agency.
- Extensive experience in a governance, risk management, compliance within an insurance, corporate or commercially driven public sector environment.
- Well-developed understanding of business risk and mitigation strategies, ideally in the areas of insurance risk, operational risk and financial risk.
- Extensive experience in successfully building rapport and influence at all levels from front-line to Board members.
- Experience in a role operating in a fast-paced environment with significant competing priorities, a decentralised leadership model and dealing with ambiguity.
- Extensive experience in developing strong risk management and compliance strategies and frameworks, whilst creating and maintaining strong partnerships with executives to drive results throughout the business.
- Proven track record in enhancing and developing a strong risk culture in an organisation through influence and leadership at all levels of the organisation.
