About the Job About the role

Join the Public Transport Authority (PTA) as a Database Administrator and contribute to the stability, performance, and reliability of our IT systems and databases. In this role, you will uphold high service standards across installation, maintenance, and support activities, ensuring solutions are delivered effectively and aligned with customer requirements. You will also provide technical guidance, champion continuous improvement, and stay informed on emerging technologies to recommend enhancements that strengthen organisational capability.

Your responsibilities include assessing system performance, implementing optimisations, and supporting continuity, backup, and recovery planning. You'll work within defined service levels, build strong stakeholder relationships, and troubleshoot issues within mission‐critical environments. In addition, you will play a key role in project delivery by contributing to business cases and offering expert advice on both new and existing technology systems. This is a dynamic opportunity to influence the future of public transport technology in Western Australia.

About You!

To excel in this role, you should possess:

* Holds or is progressing toward a tertiary qualification in a computer‐related field, with proven experience in database and systems support. Demonstrates strong proficiency in Oracle RDBMS and/or Microsoft SQL Server, including administration, performance tuning, installation, troubleshooting, and high availability implementation.
* Experienced in supporting UNIX and Windows operating systems, maintaining technical documentation, and applying IT Service Management practices to ensure reliable, efficient, and well‐documented IT operations.
* Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to build rapport and work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
* Skilled in analysing data, producing insightful reports, and managing time efficiently to meet deadlines while working independently.

There is one permanent full‐time opportunity available for an immediate start. Applicants assessed as suitable through this process may be used to fill similar vacancies both fixed term and permanent that may arise within the next 12 months.
