We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Manager Network Reliability & Resilience to join our Network Strategy and Asset Management team. This role can be based anywhere within our operational footprint.

The Manager Network Reliability & Resilience is responsible for leading Essential Energy's strategic approach to network reliability and resilience, ensuring compliance with regulatory performance schemes, including the AER's Service Target Performance Incentive Scheme (STPIS).

Working closely with internal stakeholders, regulatory bodies and industry groups, this role drives continuous improvement in network performance, conducts analysis of major reliability events, oversees key strategic initiatives, and ensures Essential Energy delivers safe, reliable and resilient electricity services to customers.

This position requires strong leadership capability, deep technical understanding of network performance, exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, and experience navigating regulatory frameworks. A strong understanding of risk management, asset performance, and resilience principles is essential, along with the ability to oversee complex issues and provide high-level advice to senior leaders.

Key Responsibilities

* Develop and implement strategies for network reliability, resilience and STPIS compliance aligned with regulatory and business objectives.
* Monitor and report on performance against reliability and resilience targets to ensure transparency and accountability across the organisation.
* Lead technical analysis and investigations of major reliability events, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
* Prepare and review regulatory submissions and reports for the AER, IPART and other stakeholders, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives and support adoption of emerging technologies aligned with industry best practice.
* Represent Essential Energy in external forums and industry committees relating to reliability, resilience and regulatory performance.
* Provide expert advice on reliability, resilience and STPIS to support organisational strategy, planning and risk management.
* Oversee delivery of key strategic projects and initiatives within the team and across Essential Energy.
* Mentor and develop team members, fostering a high‑performance culture and supporting professional growth.
* Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of legislation, standards and industry trends relating to reliability, resilience, and climate change impacts.
* Demonstrate behaviours that promote respect, equity, diversity and inclusion in line with Essential Energy's Code of Conduct.

About You

* Professional experience in a similar role within the energy/electrical or asset‑intensive industry.
* Strong leadership experience with demonstrated capability in direction‑setting, change management and developing high‑performing teams.
* Experience developing strategic plans and programs with strong commercial awareness and understanding of risk management principles.
* Excellent knowledge of relevant legislative and regulatory frameworks (e.g., WHS, IPART, AER, Electricity Act).
* Strong understanding of network reliability and resilience, including impacts of natural hazards and infrastructure vulnerabilities.
* Demonstrated experience preparing detailed reports and presenting to senior management.
* Experience providing technical advice on asset management strategies, reliability practices and resilience planning.
* Ability to manage complex issues with competing priorities at a senior level.
* Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.

Required Qualifications

* Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Civil or relevant discipline) or equivalent, suitable for membership with Engineers Australia.

Desirable

* Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng).
* CPAM (Certified Practitioner in Asset Management).
