Finance Manager Position
The Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Finance Manager to join their team. The ideal candidate will possess excellent accounting skills, strong analytical abilities, and the capacity to work in a fast-paced environment.
* Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions.
* Prepare month end reports, including general ledger reconciliations and review of Trial Balance.
* Assist in annual audit for PSA, SPSF branch, and related funds.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of fortnightly pay-run.
* Prepare and comply with all statutory reporting requirements, including GST / FBT and payroll-related reporting.
* Support the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) with annual budget preparation for PSA and SPSF branch.
* Provide guidance and training to Senior accounts officers and accounts officers.
* Stay updated on statutory reporting obligations and governance principles.
* Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Requirements:
1. A commitment to Union principles, the PSA Executive, and Central Council.
2. Strong knowledge of the overall structure, functions, and requirements of each unit of the Association.
3. Tertiary Accounting qualifications and 3+ years' experience in a similar role.
4. CA or CPA qualified or working towards.
5. Familiarity with accounting software, preferably GreenTree software program.
6. Demonstrated expertise in payroll processing, employee entitlements, and award provisions.
7. Extensive experience in general ledger accounts payable, accounts receivable, and reporting.
8. Able to work independently, exercise initiative, and make sound judgments.
9. Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
10. Excellent attention to detail and time management.
11. Intermediate to advanced PC skills using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
12. Able to learn new computer programs and technology.
13. Proven ability to handle competing demands and priorities.
14. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
15. Able to work collaboratively as part of a team.
16. Familiarity with the public sector, government corporations, and unions.
