GIS Specialist – Mapping / Spatial team, Subsidence Advisory NSW
Grade: Clerk Grade 7/8 | Salary range: $113,574 – $125,720 plus superannuation and leave loading | Duration: Ongoing, Full‑time | Location: Hybrid work arrangement, Newcastle – office attendance required 2–3 days per week.
About the role
We are seeking an experienced GIS mapping professional to join the Subsidence Advisory NSW mapping/spatial team. The role involves creating, managing and presenting geographic and spatial information to inform decision‑making and service delivery. You will provide specialist mapping and data services through the collation, quality assurance and processing of diverse GIS datasets, applying highly developed spatial and programming skills to meet operational and strategic needs.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain and present GIS datasets for the Coal Mine Subsidence Compensation Act.
- Produce mapping products that support decision‑making across property owners, government departments and local councils.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver GIS solutions that integrate with databases and web applications.
- Implement automation and scripting to streamline GIS processes.
- Ensure data integrity through detailed quality assurance and data input procedures.
Qualifications
- Degree in spatial science, geographic information or data analysis, or equivalent experience.
- Solid background delivering GIS and remote sensing solutions.
- Proven ability to analyse, integrate and automate GIS applications in database/web contexts.
- Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to data quality.
- Capacity to work independently and as part of a cross‑functional team.
Salary & Benefits
Salary Grade 7/8, with a starting base salary of $113,574 plus superannuation and leave loading.
