Your New Role

The Canteen Manager reports to the Principal and leads a team of volunteers to provide food services for the Holy Spirit school community. The role includes preparing, serving, and restocking food, ensuring healthy, appropriate, and affordable options for students and staff. The successful applicant will have strong communication and interpersonal skills, work well with others, and show initiative, judgment, and discretion under pressure. They must be organised, maintain confidentiality, adapt to change, and remain calm in busy situations.

* Salary: Level 3A: $32.78 per hour – averaged (term‑time only)


Key Capabilities And Requirements

* Experience in a similar position, ideally within an educational setting.
* Relevant, demonstrable level of industry and technical knowledge.
* Current NSW Food Safety Supervisor Certificate.
* NSW Working with Children Check.
* Successful candidate to undergo a Functional Assessment and National Criminal History Check.
* First Aid Certificate is required or willingness to obtain.


Responsibilities

* Food Preparation & Service
* Supervision of volunteer helpers and allocating tasks.
* Customer Service – process orders, serve customers politely and handle complaints professionally.
* Cash Handling – take payments, and give correct change.
* Cleaning & Hygiene – maintain cleanliness in food preparation areas and equipment daily.
* Stock Management – restock food, drinks, and supplies as needed.
* Ensure wastage is minimised.
* Health & Safety Compliance – follow food safety regulations and hygiene standards to prevent food spoilage, contamination and subsequent food poisoning.
* Demonstrate strong awareness of the canteen budget by monitoring expenses, managing stock and purchasing with careful, cost‑effective spending in line with the approved budget.
