Brisbane Youth Education and Training Centre is a Department of Education school operating within the Brisbane Youth Detention Centre at Wacol.
The schools caters to both male and female students from across the state who are either on remand or have been sentenced for criminal offences.
The school plays an important role in the community by providing young people in detention with the opportunity to gain knowledge, skills, and values that can enhance their capacity to pursue positive choices in the future.

Step Into Your Nex Chapter:
We are looking for competent Teacher Aides who can work as Teacher Aide alongside our Industrial Technology and Design (ITD) trainers. The successful applicant will work under the direction of the teacher to assist in the classroom and support and encourage students in their learning.
The ideal applicant will have a background in Engineering and fabrication industry. A Manual Arts Teacher Aide will provide assistance and support to the Manual Arts teachers by setting up equipment / tools / materials prior to classes; constructing project examples; completing maintenance of stock and equipment; general cleaning task and assisting students with their work during classes.
Responsibilities include:
* Assisting teachers and students with sporting activities and with school excursions.
* Assisting with the management and stocktaking of equipment and resources.
* Communicating effectively and displaying high level of interpersonal skills to function as an effective team member.
* Maintaining anecdotal records on students for use in reviewing student's development.
* Displaying respect and empathy for students with high level needs.
