Join our dynamic Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls (EI&C) groups in either Fredericton NB or Dartmouth NS as a full-time Electrical Engineering Technologist. In this role, you will collaborate closely with our engineering and technical design teams, contributing to innovative projects that make a real impact. Your Key Responsibilities
Support project team in development of design documentation, plans and reports.
Collaborate with other Stantec disciplines (process, mechanical, electrical, etc.) to ensure compatibility with the design intent.
Prepare electrical equipment material requisitions, datasheets, and procurement support documents.
Execute technical bid evaluations for equipment.
Assist in the review of vendor drawings and submittals, respond to requests for information.
Assist in the preparation and coordination of project specifications and related documents.
Complete required calculations for cable and equipment sizing and selection, etc. using appropriate engineering methodology and principles.
Development of wiring and panel schedules, cable schedules, underground duct banks, etc.
Participate in constructability reviews.
Assist in development of Construction Work Packages.
Participate in site visits and field engineering work.
Understand and work within Stantec's project delivery and quality control guidelines.
Comply with Stantec's Extended Health & Safety program, with a focus on safety in the field. Ensure all work is completed with safety of paramount concern.
Apply appropriate codes, specifications, and standards (both legislated and client-specific).
Produce aspects of EI&C design and drawings in 2D and 3D using software such as AutoCAD, Navisworks, etc.
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Diploma from 2-year or 3-year Electrical Engineering Technology or Building Engineering Technology accredited program (or equivalent).
Must be self-motivated, team oriented, and efficient.
Participates and collaborates in project team setting and engages in creative and critical thought.
Possesses a strong desire to learn and work in a team environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, working effectively with in-person and remote teams.
Capable of working on multiple projects concurrently.
Proven problem-solving skills.
Excellent organizational skills.
Ability to perform in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with industry standards and applicable Canadian Electrical Code, CSA codes and standards is considered an asset.
Field experience is considered an asset.
Understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, and AutoCAD is an asset.
Education and Experience
Technical degree / diploma / certificate or equivalent in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Previous co-op / Internship experience in industrial consulting or in an industrial environment.
Successful candidate will primarily work in a flexible office environment. Some field work and extended travel may be required.
