Role
Patterson River Secondary College is seeking an exceptional leader to fill the role of Assistant Principal (Student Operations).
The assistant principal will lead the school in a number of areas, including:
* School Wide Positive Behaviour Program
* Student management policies, procedures and practices
* Management of new enrolments Years 7‐12 (excluding 6‐7 transition)
* Manages Leading Teacher team consisting of 6 Year Level Leaders (including associated student management teams) and Student Voice & Empowerment Leader
* Oversight of the use of behaviour support plans and modified timetables
* Course counselling processes and subject changes
* Instructional practices relating to Positive Classroom Management Strategies
* Monitoring, review and implementation of policies on Student Engagement, Attendance, Uniform, Bullying Prevention and Mobile Phone use.
The Assistant Principal (Student Operations) reports to the Principal and works in the principal class team that also includes an Assistant Principal (Curriculum Operations) and Assistant Principal (School Operations).
Responsibilities
Typically, assistant principals perform one or more of the following functions:
* Supervision and coordination of the work of senior curriculum or level coordinators;
* Allocation of budgets, positions of responsibility and other resources within the area of responsibility;
* Supervision of the delivery of teaching programmes;
* Management of programmes to improve the knowledge and experience of staff;
* Responsibility for general discipline matters beyond the management of classroom teachers and year level coordinators;
* Contribute to the overall management of the school.

Appropriately qualified individuals currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching.

Qualification Requirements
To be eligible for employment, transfer or promotion in the principal or teacher class:
* The person must have provisional or full registration approved by the Victorian Institute of Teaching; and
* if the person completed an Australian postgraduate level initial teaching program or course of study on or after 1 January 2024, they must demonstrate that they have satisfactorily completed a postgraduate level accredited initial teacher education program that has been accredited by an Australian State or Territory Teacher Regulatory Authority as satisfying the requirements of the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership accreditation standards; and
* a person who graduated from a Victorian Initial Teacher Education program after 1 July 2016 must also demonstrate that they have passed the literacy and numeracy test for initial teacher education (LANTITE) requirements.
