Your new role awaits…
As a Category Manager, the purpose of your role is to purchase goods and merchandise to be sold in EB Games and Zing Pop Culture stores, with the aim of maximising sales and gross margin performance. This involves planning, negotiating with vendors, sourcing new products, reviewing existing goods and managing and mitigating inherent financial risks.
As an important member of a talented and creative team, you will:
* Analyse sales data and customer trends to forecast demand and optimise re-buy decisions
* Identify growth opportunities and support business strategy through insightful analysis
* Collaborate with marketing and merchandise teams to deliver strong go-to-market plans
* Develop seasonal buying plans aligned with budget, market trends and sales targets
* Source unique, on-trend products and negotiate with suppliers for the best commercial outcomes
* Oversee the end-to-end buying process from raising orders to quality checks and stock distribution
What are we looking for?
For this role, we are looking for a candidate who has the following:
* At least 5 years’ experience in retail buying, planning or merchandising
* Strong negotiation, communication and resolution skills
* Ability to research, plan, analyse and evaluate trends and sales, applying analytical and strategic thinking to drive profitability
* Ability to work closely with the cross functional teams, manage stakeholder expectations and build effective relationships
* Experience using Microsoft Office suite; with strong excel skills
* Proven ability to self-manage time and responsibilities while working with autonomy
* Ability to cope well in high-pressure environment and effectively deal with competing business priorities
* Open-minded with positive change management capability
* A commitment to superior customer service, product and market development
* When required, willing to travel in order to engage directly with partners
