About UNSW

At UNSW, we pride ourselves on being a workplace where the best people come to do their best work. We aspire to be Australia's global university, improving and transforming lives through excellence in research, outstanding education and a commitment to advancing a just society.

About The Role

The Business Optimisation Strategy (BOS) is a landmark investment to modernise UNSW's platforms and simplify service delivery. By streamlining processes and data, BOS enables the "Progress for All" strategy, returning time to staff for teaching and research.

As BOS mobilises, we seek a senior leader with deep expertise in People & Culture service delivery, employment legislation, and enterprise agreements. Reporting to the P&C Program Manager, this role is the accountable expert for ERP and Service Management design, ensuring workforce systems are human‐centred, compliant, and efficient.

You will influence program direction, lead HR transformation elements, and ensure the future operating model meets the needs of the UNSW community. This is a rare opportunity to define the employee experience and systems that will underpin talent attraction, payroll, and retention for the next decade. This role is not a project management or business analyst opportunity.

Responsibilities

* Serve as the senior People & Culture voice within the BOS program, ensuring all design decisions reflect the P&C service lifecycle and future operating model.
* Embed employment legislation, wage compliance, and enterprise agreement interpretation into all system configurations and regulatory requirements.
* Drive the end‐to‐end design and delivery of ERP and Service Management capabilities, including Payroll, Recruitment, Talent Management, and Workforce Planning.
* Analyze current PeopleSoft configurations and integrations to define and transition to the future state within Oracle Cloud HCM.
* Support workstream planning, dependency mapping, and governance reporting in alignment with central program office and EPMO standards.
* Collaborate with academic and professional leaders to build consensus on delivery approaches, risk treatments, and P&C service workflows.
* Partner with multidisciplinary teams and change management to ensure system integrations, business value, and university‐wide adoption are sustained beyond go‐live.

About You

* Essential: At least 10 years of experience delivering enterprise‐wide People & Culture solutions and large‐scale ERP transformations, specifically centred on Oracle Fusion Cloud HCM and ServiceNow.
* Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline or equivalent expertise gained through executive training and hands‐on program leadership in ERP and HCM domains.
* Deep expertise in ERP HCM solution design, configuration, and lifecycle management, with a track record of delivering Core HR, Job Architecture, Payroll, Time & Attendance, Rostering & Scheduling, Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development, Workforce Planning, and Performance & Career frameworks. Experience in higher education, healthcare or similarly federated and regulated sectors is desirable.
* Proven capability to lead and inspire high‐performing, cross‐functional teams across business and technology domains to ensure delivery excellence.
* Strong engagement and influencing skills, with a record of engaging senior executives and distilling complex ERP data into actionable insights and briefings.
* Proven ability to navigate technical complexity and manage dependencies, risks, and trade‐offs under conditions of ambiguity and high scrutiny.
* Practical knowledge of PeopleSoft HR modules and a commitment to UNSW's values to drive human‐centred change and organisational agility.

Pre‐Employment Checks

Aligned with UNSW's focus on cultivating a workplace defined by safety, ethical conduct, and strong integrity, preferred candidates will be required to participate in a combination of pre‐employment checks relevant to the role they have applied for.

* National and International Criminal history checks
* Entitlement to work and ID checks
* Working With Children Checks
* Completion of a Gender‐Based Violence Prevention Declaration
* Verification of relevant qualifications
* Verification of relevant professional membership
* Employment history and reference checks
* Financial responsibility assessments/checks
* Medical Checks and Assessments

Compliance with the necessary combination of these checks is a condition of employment at UNSW.

UNSW Benefits and Culture

People are at the core of everything we do. We recognise it is the contributions of our staff who make UNSW one of the best universities in Australia and the world. Our benefits include:

* Additional 3 days leave during December festive period.
