TuneFM is the student-driven media outlet of the University of New England (UNE), broadcasting around the clock from the Armidale campus. Established in 1970, TuneFM holds the distinction of being Australia's oldest university broadcaster. Over its 53-year history, the station has evolved into a dynamic media hub, supporting students in producing radio shows, podcasts, social media content, and articles. TuneFM is dedicated to enabling students to create outstanding media while equipping them with real-world skills and confidence for their careers after university.
Role Description
This is an on-site Volunteer Radio Announcer role located at our Armidale, NSW campus for Trimester 1 and 2. The role involves hosting live radio shows, broadcasting music, presenting news or events, and connecting with the audience. Additional responsibilities include assisting with show preparation, researching content, and maintaining professional on-air delivery.
This is an unpaid, volunteer role, and is ideal for UNE students looking to explore radio, journalism, or who are interested in hosting their own show. Training for on-air presenting, running of the desk, and creating radio appropriate content will be supplied.
Qualifications
* Current UNE student in T1/T2 2026
* Teamwork and collaboration abilities to coordinate with other station members and volunteers
* Flexibility to work within set schedules, with a passion for media and broadcasting
* Good written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to commit to minimum 1 hour per week.
