The Norwegian Red Cross (NoRC) is part of the Red Cross Red Crescent (RCRC) Movement, the world's largest humanitarian network with millions of volunteers operating in 190 countries.
The RCRC Movement's mission is to alleviate human suffering, protect life and health, and uphold human dignity especially during armed conflicts and other emergencies.
Duties And Responsibilities
The advertisement concerns application for training leading to potential admission to our Emergency Response (ER) roster.
It is not for a specific or permanent position within the Norwegian Red Cross.
The Norwegian Red Cross maintains a roster of trained specialists (delegates) ready to be deployed with standardized equipment on short notice in response to international emergencies such as natural disasters, conflicts, health emergencies or climate-related emergencies.
Delegates work closely with the local Red Cross-National Society to provide specific services where local infrastructure is damaged, temporarily out of service, out of reach or insufficient to cope with the needs.
Most of the delegates have a full-time job with permission from their employer to take leave of absence without pay if it is requested by NoRC to go on mission.
The expected length of availability for a mission is a minimum of 6 weeks.
Delegates are on contract with Norwegian Red Cross and receive a salary while on mission, in addition to other compensations if applicable.
Clinical Emergency Response Unit
NoRC has specialized in ERUs offering immediate medical assistance, health services, public health, psychosocial support, and water and sanitation services.
NoRC deploys ERUs together with IFRC/ICRC in operations for four months or more to prevent, detect, and respond to health needs in emergencies and conflict areas.
Deployable health capacities support inter-agency health coordination, strategic health direction, community and clinic-based health interventions, and provide lifesaving services to communities, supporting government health systems.
X-ray Technician Delegate Responsibilities
Ensure the safe and correct provision, use, and function of all radiography equipment and materials in the hospital.
Ensure the radiography department can provide plain X-rays and other radiographic procedures as required.
Ensure the quality and safety of all radiographic services by adhering to national and international standards and regulations.
Support and guide radiography staff to ensure standardized approaches, following Ministry of Health / WHO guidelines, national standards, ERU protocols, SOPs, and quality control measures.
Multi-skilled delegates are essential in supporting roles in emergency health operations.
