About the role
The role of the Obstetrician Gynaecologist is to provide general obstetrics and gynaecology services to the hospital and provide support to the Director of Obstetrics & Gynaecology
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver comprehensive Obstetrics & Gynaecology clinical services, including inpatient and outpatient reviews, direct inpatient management, internal referrals, ED liaison, and participation in the consultant on-call roster.
* Provide high-quality, patient- and family-centred care aligned with national standards, ensuring informed consent, evidence-based practice, and active participation in M&M and multidisciplinary meetings.
* Lead effective discharge planning and documentation, including timely completion of discharge summaries and oversight of accurate clinical documentation and death certification.
* Provide strong clinical leadership and supervision to junior medical staff and trainees, fostering teamwork, education, performance feedback, and a positive multidisciplinary culture.
* Contribute to service development through clinical support time, quality improvement activities, audit participation, research projects, and conference presentations/publications.
* Maintain compliance with organisational policies across professional development, information governance, and occupational health & safety, promoting a safe, legally compliant, and high-performing work environment
What we're looking for
* Medical degree with eligibility for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
* Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG).
* Demonstrated commitment to developing and enhancing Obstetrics & Gynaecology services to meet patient, family and community needs.
* Proven ability to work collaboratively with senior medical, midwifery and multidisciplinary teams.
* Capacity to manage a high-volume workload with adaptability, sound judgement and strong interpersonal awareness.
* Demonstrated leadership capability and willingness to participate in the after-hours and weekend on-call roster.
