Overview

Location – Sunshine Coast, QLD; 3-Year Assignment; 38 Hours per Week.

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is seeking an experienced Principal Advisor (Finance) to join the Integrated Program Team delivering two of Queensland's most significant infrastructure projects: The Wave Stage 3 (Metro) and the Mooloolah River Interchange (MRI) Upgrade. These projects support infrastructure investment for the Olympic and Paralympic Games and enhance public transport connectivity across the Sunshine Coast region. This is an opportunity for a senior finance professional to play a key role in managing project financial performance, reporting, forecasting and governance within a major infrastructure delivery program.

Key Responsibilities

* Develop and deliver financial reports for project teams, executives and governance groups.
* Prepare financial analysis, forecasts and variance reporting to support decision-making.
* Manage monthly cash flow processes and reporting in collaboration with regional finance teams.
* Maintain and reconcile financial records within SAP, Oracle Primavera Unifier (3PCM) and related systems.
* Develop and enhance financial dashboards and reporting tools, including Power BI solutions.
* Provide accurate and timely financial insights to support project delivery outcomes.
* Contribute as a senior member of the Project Controls team.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

* Extensive experience in accounting, budgeting, financial management and reporting.
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and communicate financial performance.
* Advanced Microsoft Excel and Power BI capability.
* Experience working within complex project or infrastructure environments.
* Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
* The ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively within a collaborative team.
* A commitment to financial governance, continuous improvement and best-practice financial management.

Essential Requirements

* CPA qualification and/or tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
* Demonstrated experience in a senior finance role.
* Experience working within a government department as a Finance Manager or similar role.
* Ability to successfully pass a Criminal History Check.

Highly Desirable

* SAP experience.
* Experience with Oracle Primavera Unifier (3PCM) or similar project controls systems.
* Experience supporting large-scale infrastructure or capital delivery programs.
