Period of Appointment
Appointment to the role is on a Permanent full time (up to 73.5 hours per fortnight).
Duties
* Enter specimen label information into Herbarium databases, interpreting and verifying data and current nomenclature.
* Prepare specimens for incorporating into the Herbarium collection.
* Provide regular and timely reports on the collection to the Head of Herbarium and the Registration Officer.
* In collaboration with specialist Curators and the Registration Officer, contribute to the day-to-day care, maintenance and security of the collection and specialist facilities, including the laboratory facility and chemical storage.
* Support taxonomic research and specimen identification by managing the Herbarium laboratory, preparing solvents and reagents, and assisting with routine thin-layer chromatography.
* Contribute to Herbarium projects and activities including collecting expeditions and public engagement programmes.
* Assist the Volunteer Program by providing general guidance on collection curation.
