This role sits within a broader Safety Partnering function and plays a key role in supporting leaders to manage risk, improve safety performance, and ensure compliance with contemporary WHS legislation and frameworks.

About the Role

As a Safety Business Partner, you will provide expert WHS advice and hands‑on operational support to sector leaders, managers, and frontline teams. You will be embedded within a highly operational environment and will be responsible for driving safety culture, supporting incident and risk management activities, and strengthening leadership capability in WHS practices.

You will be working across a large and diverse operational footprint, supporting teams across station‑based and office environments, with exposure to real‑time operational risk and critical incident response environments. This role is ideal for a seasoned WHS professional who thrives in complex, high‑tempo settings and can operate independently while influencing senior stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

* Partner with operational leaders to embed a strong and proactive safety culture across the sector
* Provide practical, operational WHS advice aligned with legislative and regulatory requirements
* Coach managers, supervisors, and Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs) to build WHS capability and confidence
* Support implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of WHS management systems and processes
* Manage incident and risk processes including review of incident data, risk registers, and investigation support (including ICAM methodology where required)
* Analyse WHS data and reporting trends to identify emerging risks and provide actionable insights to leadership
* Act as a key point of contact for regulatory engagement including SafeWork NSW where required
* Support consistent application of WHS policies, procedures, and compliance frameworks
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across safety systems and operational practices

About You

You are an experienced WHS professional who is confident working in complex, operational environments. You bring a strong balance of technical WHS knowledge, stakeholder engagement capability, and practical problem‑solving skills. You will have:

* Extensive experience in Work Health and Safety within large, complex service‑based organisations
* Strong working knowledge of WHS legislation, Codes of Practice, and compliance frameworks
* Experience in incident management, risk assessment, and safety investigations
* Demonstrated ability to coach and influence operational leaders and frontline staff
* Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including experience working with regulators or unions
* Ability to analyse WHS data and translate insights into practical improvements
* Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (essential); additional qualifications highly regarded
* Confidence working autonomously in fast‑paced, high‑risk operational environments

Why Apply?

This is a unique opportunity to work within a high‑impact emergency services environment where WHS is mission‑critical. You will be part of a respected safety partnering model, supporting frontline operations that directly impact community outcomes across NSW.
