The Role

The Apprenticeship Policy Branch is seeking an experienced principal analyst in the Evaluation and Analysis team. As a principal analyst, you will support the Director in delivering the team's work program.

The role requires highly developed expertise in strategic assessment, analysis and negotiation, communication and staff development, drawing upon a depth of experience in policy evaluation, applied economics and data analysis.


Duties And Responsibilities

* Conduct research and analysis to support the design, delivery, and evaluation of apprenticeship policies and programs.
* Lead the analysis of integrated datasets to evaluate the impact of policies and programs, including administrative data, surveys, and financial data.
* Design and plan evaluations, working closely with policy areas to undertake evaluation processes, synthesising quantitative and qualitative information to inform evaluation findings and draw conclusions.
* Interpreting a wide range of information, including economic information and data, to give unique insights on policy issues.
* Prepare and present briefs, reports, and publications for a variety of internal and external stakeholders, including portfolio ministers and members of the Senior Executive Service.
* Lead engagement with stakeholders relating to data and information collection, analysis of issues and the development of relevant policy initiatives.
* Apply economic, competition and regulatory concepts and principles to develop responses to complex market and policy issues.
* Support other teams to develop new policy proposals and costings.
* Undertake economic and gender impact analysis of existing and proposed apprenticeship policies.
* Work with a team across multiple physical locations to deliver regular and bespoke reports, including providing direction, allocating responsibilities, giving feedback, setting priorities, coaching and developing team members.
* Coordinate work in a collegiate way with the other directors in the branch and mentor and motivate team members to ensure that the branch works together to achieve outcomes and supports a healthy culture.
* Engage collaboratively with staff throughout DEWR and with other partnering agencies.

As a Principal Analyst, the successful candidates will also be responsible for mentoring staff to deliver the work described above.


Eligibility

Citizenship - to be eligible for employment with the Department, you must be an Australian Citizen or, in limited circumstances, in the process of obtaining it.

Security Clearance - our successful candidate is required to hold, or have the ability to obtain, and maintain a Baseline security clearance.
